Abstract

The importance of information and communication technologies, as well as the level of people's digital skills, is a concept which is highly used among policymakers and researchers. Furthermore, it is evident that it's significantly essential for the economic development of the countries, also it is reflected in various fields of economic and social areas. The Danube Strategy which covers the Danube Region stretches from the Black Forest (Germany) to the Black Sea (Romania-Ukraine-Moldova), is consisted of eleven priority areas within various projects. Republic of Serbia and Slovakia Republic are chosen to coordinate of Priority Area 7 "To develop the knowledge society (research, education and ICT)". Importance of information and communication technology (ICT), and therefore digital skills, is an essential area for the empowerment of Danube region. In this paper, we will be focused on two countries: Republic of Serbia and Slovak Republic using statistical data of Eurostat for comparative analysis of the general level of digital skills of the citizens of Serbia and Slovakia. This review indicates directions for further research and future strategies in the ICT field.
