The present study is an empirical in nature and examines the major motivational factor for business. The study has been conducted in Coimbatore District, India. The women entrepreneurs, who belong to Self Help Groups (SHG) are the sample respondents. A total of 450 sample respondents have been randomly selected and the analysis have been carried out across the field of activities of women entrepreneurs in small business and micro enterprises viz, Among the Ten motivational factors for choice, three emerged as high as than others. Some women deliberately have started the business as a means of supplementing income, whilst others eagerly anticipate for individual self achievement obtained from self employment. The women in small business and micro enterprises have become a entrepreneurs in the study have an average age of 40-60 as they are either settled as housewives or employees of business organisations. On the one hand their primary goal is to get monetary reward and on the other, they receive personal gratification as they are self-employed.
