This paper analyses the effects of implementation of the credit bureau in Serbia from microeconomic perspective. The results which were achieved by empirical research, are leading to a conclusion that implementation of the credit bureau institution at the national economy level has a positive impact on certain macroeconomic aspects of relevant economy, regardless of its economic and sociopolitical status. Existence of the negative correlation between functional characteristics of credit bureau and trends in citizen's indebtedness, active interest rates, rate of unsettled financial obligations under credits and time period necessary for processing of credit applications has been established. Beside the above mentioned, the positive impact of the credit bureau implementation on the credit activities in Serbia has also been confirmed.
