Abstract

The aim of this Paper is to attract attention to environmental situation in Western Balkan countries, as the importance of the Environment Vulnerability Monitoring is seen as a tool for activities for systematic reducing Vulnerability to Climate Change in their Agricultural Systems. In a desk research of the situation in WBC, the Environment Vulnerability Index (EVI) is used as it focuses on feedback and interactions, being more pro-active than measures of the state of the environment, though it includes them. A result indicationg high vulnerabiliy of these countries speaks of a high risk of damage from future conditions, some of which may be related to damage in the past, and may therefore be a more appropriate measure for adaptive management, particularly at the scale of countries. The classification used in the Paper could quickly identify whether the environment of a country is highly vulnerable overall.
