Abstract
This chapter presents a pilot study assessing self-perceived digital information competence among undergraduate business students using the DigComp 3.0 framework, focusing on Area 1 competences of browsing, searching, filtering, evaluating, and managing digital information. Data collected from 23 students reveal three key findings. First, self-assessed competence scores are moderate and statistically uniform across the three information literacy domains. Second, a steep and consistent decline in perceived competence occurs as DigComp proficiency levels increase from Basic to Highly Advanced, with the gradient reaching statistical significance across all domains. Third, Knowledge scores are significantly lower than Attitude and Skill scores, indicating a conceptual understanding deficit despite positive digital orientations. The findings are discussed in relation to their implications for digitalizing talent management strategy in higher education.
