Abstract

We described natural resources of each of the preserves, and their importance and value of the green business development in Serbia. We also stated the deficiencies of the analysis, and the problems that SNPs in Serbia face. Consequently, we described techniques and opportunities for the development of environmental accounting and green business in Serbia. The goal of this study is to show that there are great potentials for the development of green business in SNPs of Serbia. Result of our financial statements’ analysis for all three SNPs indicates that the managements of SNP Zasavica and Uvac achieve positive economic effect in the process of managing the preserve, while the management of SNP Stari Begej – Carska Bara operates at a loss. The research showed that Special Nature Preserves cannot operate economically positive without state subsidies, because the demand for tourist services does not suffice to cover the costs of maintenance and protection of the values located in the preserves.
