Abstract

Women’s participation at senior levels in business today is far from where it needs to be. In line with this, the aim of the study was to gain feedback from business leaders on the current presence of women in leadership roles and perceived barriers to the advancement. This article explores the topic using a critical thinking analysis, integrating current literature with qualitative research. A cross national study showed that there is no lack of qualified women to fill leadership roles. Nevertheless, women are much less represented in leadership positions than men. In this context, the research is not only pointed out the certain stereotypes concerning the advancement of women, but also is expressed need for the new approach for combating inequality in business. Proposed approach should minimize the barriers impeding women’s advancement and can be considered as a call for corrective action.
